Ooh, Very interesting! It's the same price range as the old 1.5A filters as well.

At .9A it looks like it's still geared towards proms though, but using a larger erf you're getting a huge increase in resolution over the PST and Maxscope 40 at a price in between the two. As long as you can live without the solar disc detail.

I'm very tempted to sell my PST and get one of these systems if it turns out to be good. Will have to keep an eye on it.

Looks tempting alright. At 0.9A, it will still show some surface detail I reckon. The PST would still be nice as a grab-n-go or for taking on hols.

Be careful to read the small print. Thousand Oaks Ha filters have been around for a long time, yet haven't had the same success as Coronado SolarMax, possibly because of the wider bandwidth or the way in which the HAU affects focal ratio. Before you buy one find out why.

Up to now, they were 1.5A, which is very wide in comparison to Coronado. This is a new product they are offering.

Thanks for straightening that out. It explains why so many people opted for Coronado instead. That said Thousand Oaks is around a long time so if Coronado suffers as a result of the current MEade debacle at least there's another option.

Some people are now saying that Thousand Oaks are working on a 0.7A version also for similar kind of money. Now that would be interesting! I've sent them an e-mail enquiring about it - I'll let you know if I here anymore.

I still think 0.9A is fairly wide, I wouldn't jump on it unless I saw the sun using one first, now a 07.A, that's more like it !!

Got an e-mail from Thousand Oaks saying that they hope to launch the 0.7A version early next year. Sounds good!!
