Mars Observing Filters was created by Frank Ryan
I was curious to know would there be any kind of filter that would
help with observing Mars.
I mentioned it to Dave L one night while observing that it'd be cool if
you could get a filter that would do the same for visual as the webcam.
(When we stopped down the exposure rate and gain the detail hopped out)
I saw in the latest issue of S&T 2 companies selling Mars filters.
Anyone know anything about them or what they offer?
help with observing Mars.

Just did a quick google on them. Orion seems to be the main name of Mars filter that comes up most:

Hey Frank,
I don't know if I mentioned to you that I use a yellow filter to reduce the glare of Mars, helps it stop been so blinding, that in itself helps shows details.
As for enhancing Martian detail, I haven't used one yet that does what you want, I generally find that a red filters just darkens the image and.. well... makes it more red !
Apparently, a bright blue filter enhances cloud detail, and a green filter helps show the ice caps. Never works for me though, I can either see it (unfiltered) or never at all, maybe others have had better luck.
I have all the meade colour filters, you're welcome to try them next time we're up on the hill.

Cool thanks.
I have to say that I'm not a huge fan of Planetary or Moon filters
as such either, just curious as to what part of the spectrum the blocked out.
