Mars Observing Filters

Cool thanks.
I have to say that I'm not a huge fan of Planetary or Moon filters
as such either, just curious as to what part of the spectrum the blocked out.
This image was taken through a moon filter on an 8" scope. Without it the webcam was completely saturated. Once you get into bigger apertures they come into their own.

Do you mean your usual run of the mill green lunar filter John ?
I use a variable polarising filter I got from Orion-much more versatile than a standard transmission one.

I was curious to know would there be any kind of filter that would
help with observing Mars.
I mentioned it to Dave L one night while observing that it'd be cool if
you could get a filter that would do the same for visual as the webcam.
(When we stopped down the exposure rate and gain the detail hopped out)
I saw in the latest issue of S&T 2 companies selling Mars filters.
Anyone know anything about them or what they offer?
I would suggest all you need is a simple 21 Orange filter for Mars. Larger scopes, say 8" up, may be able to use a red filter (think its 28) but I've always found an orange one fine. Preferably I enjoy observing the planets filterless but under good conditions, the 21 does help increase the contrast making dark markings easier to see.
