These battery packs are 17Ah rated, so you don't want to use more than 13Ah. Based on a 12V circuit, you would need to be drawing 24W for more than 6 hours to damage the battery permanently. or for a 4 amp device (48W), 3 hours.Lads,
I wouldn't use this battery pack if your system draws a fair amount of power, like say 2 or 3 amps, in this case you might be using a hefty mount and dew heaters.
If you discharge more then 20% of its capacity, you can permanently damage the battery, if you go alot further you will definitely damage it, do this a number of times times and what you'll find is that the time it runs your scope in the field will become shorter and shorter and a time will come when it might not work at all.
Once you keep within these limits, you shouldn't permanently damage the battery.

Nope, its not that big really and break up into 3 seperate parts, so it should be easy to get in and out of the car. That toolbox looks the biz Dave. Will you have to change your car to carry both this and the Obsessionator?

Hi Darragh,
Can I ask where are you getting the 13AH from ? isnt that 76% of the charge? or am I reading this wrong.
Sorry Dave,
I read your post wrong, I was reading that you don't want to have less than 20% capacity left.
Anyway, where can you get these deep discharge lead acid batteries?
Apologies

There are some in Halfords, they are "leisure" batteries 110Ah and 90Ah so they are well able for the job.
The problem with getting these batteries over the web is their heavy weight and sulphuric acid contents, shipping them is costly and they can leak if tipped over as they usually have vents.
I was not able to find others locally, you might have better luck.

Radionics does some deep cycle batteries like radionics.rs-online.com/web/search/searc...roduct&R=4363614 but they are not cheap at over €150 and the charger has to be bought separately but Radionics will deliver, usually next day
