Yes Keith,
I plan on doing a lot of 'Mods' to my ETX-125.

1 - Pick it up
2- Chuck it out the top floor window.

I reckon by the time the 'Mod' is finished it will work
100% better than it does now.

After that I plan on:

1 - Collecting all the impossibly small plastic parts of the drive
2 - Burning them on a fire and dancing about it laughing mechanically.

The final part of the modification involves me
buying a new bloody scope coz this thing has my head wrecked!

Anyone any suggestions?
(apart from a dose of Prozac?)

8-)

As you can see Frank has finally gone over the edge after the scope failed to startup properly on Sunday night, I was waiting for the scope to be thrown over a cliff into the sea.

not really a mod, but trying to create a piggyback mount for a camera. There currently are none for the 6" sct. I dont want to have it attached all the time so il be making some sort of plate thats permanently attached under the finder scope bracket, and then screw the camera mount onto this when i need it. Be a while before i get to it though as I dont get home to my dads garrage often, where tools, workbenches and my dads skill at building things can be utilized.

not really modding but hope to get a 2" diagonal ( still trying to figure out if i need a new visual back. want to get a look at someone's 2" diagonal next observing session to work this out") and a Moonfish wide angle piece. Im starting to obsess about this freakin moonfish. Thanks a bunch Dave Branigan!)

Planning on trying to make a heat pad to keep the dew from the telrad also.

LOL! Did this Moonfish obsession start at the observing Session up in cloon wood at the beginning of January? I just remember Dave sitting by his scope with the EP in his hand, rocking back and forth and stroking it while muttering...."MY.....Preeeciiooouuusssssss" :D

Ok.
I didnt do the 'MOD' I suggested
(although I reeeeeaaally wanted to)
And I just set up as normal tonight.

Here is the result.
If I use fresh Batteries = all OK.
If I use the power adapter = all OK.
If I use the BRAND NEW Halfords power tank (150Euro)
Herbie go's bananas! therefore,
even thought the battery is 'fully charged' and ready to go.
it's not enough for the ETX!
It is showing 80% charge at first and
then it drops point for point every min until....
'Herbie go's Bananas!'
(e.g. - the etx go's mental and slews all over the shop and
even ....arrraagg ...past it's hard stops...!)

So I've basically given up on the battery I have and
will be investing in the the future with the likes of Dave's invention.

I've tested all the ETX's motors and T.G.
(some say Thank Grennan)
All tracking is spot on......Phew!

So until I get a beefy power supply
My lil' baby will be staying put,
Which is unfortunate as I really wanted to get some
polar aligned piggybacked shots from her.

All in all the ETX-125 is a super little scope
and I'll never sell her, but if I ever knock across
a cheap LDX75 mount...
it'll be..
(''close your eyes dear ETX-ie ...this won't hurt a bit!'')

Dave L.
It's a good thing you saw the volt reading on my battery that night on the hill.
It confirms what you suspected all along.
