Got a few mods done just before the Glendalough Public outreach event.
New Pluck Foam EP case that I actually got from a music equipment site. Its supposed to be for microphones etc. 68.5 x 48.5 x 15.8cm.
Heres the Scope-Totes I bought. They are lined with a non slip material and secured with velcro straps. The scope is transported in my large Orion bag (Like a giant sports bag ). I then lift the OTA out by the scopetote handles and with the totes and handles positioned just so like in the picture, when I lower the OTA onto the base, the bearings are horizontal, so now I don't risk dropping the OTA in at the wrong angle for the bearings or banging the altitude encoder etc.
Here is the Orion fan I bought. I fashioned the shroud from the floor tray of an old doggy cage we no longer use. Just the right thickness to be stiff enough but not so thick as to be impossible to cut out the shape. Non porous, black to match the scope so no painting required and even the surface texture is not unlike the orange peel paint effect on the mirror housing. I also cut a ring of the same material to use as a ring baffle. ie air no longer bounces back off the mirror but is forced around the mirror edges because of the shroud. The ring bafffle that is attached on top of the mirror retaining clips directs this air out across the mirror surface to disrupt the boundary layer.

Just added a Motorised focus unit to my scope, as focusing and vibration was doing my head in.
I had to adapt it a bit to fit as it is not designed for my scope, but was pretty simple and works a treat.
This is small fry however, compared to your scope and mods Calibos, so cool!!
cheers

CJ,
Does the motofocus eliminate the need for say a dual speed focusser? Is the motorised focussing as 'fine' as by hand or less or more so?
Its just I have been thinking about getting one too.

Hi Keith
The motor focus unit has a control unit (see below) with a rheostat knob for varying the speed, and up and down buttons. At the slowest speed it is so much finer than by hand, we are talking fractions of a mm. I was hoping to try it out tonight but it's clouded over.
hope this helps
cheers

Whats the power source. Are the batteries inside the hand controller or is there a separate battery pack?
