True that will work if you can see polaris if not press locate button sorted

Yeah i thought so cuz even if the scope is looking at a brick wall or something.................the polar axis will be aligned through the Scout to celestial north cuz the scout can see through brick walls.

I know this is all stupid stuff...............but to me everything is a learning curve.

Astronomy was so much more simple when i just used bins,LOL.

I'll give you a laugh i was using a skyscout at an event and someone said what will happen if you point it at the ground and press the target button. So I did it told me i was looking at alpha centauri. Bizar or what.

That's a bit like when i fired mine up for the first time. I was pointing it at the moon (the big white thing in the night sky) I asked it to locate the moon and it pointed down to the ground behind me.

You just have to cuddle and stroke it nicely to get it to work first time round.

I ask because i cant see Polaris from my observing position in my garden and by the time i tell my skyscout to find it.............and align my scope up to it...............i have forgotten exactly where it is.

Surely you can't be serious...

If you cant see polaris from your observing location, its worth taking the time to pin down its location once with the unit you have and put a line of paint or tape on the ground to permanently mark out north, if you're using an eq mount then just never change the altitude setting and approximate polar allignment will be easy from then on.
