Dave - yes, the mailed me last week to say the the eyepiece would be with me the next day. I then found out yesterday that they hadn't shipped it at all!
I actually phoned them this afternoon( they're based in Wales) wanting to sort things out, only to have my details taken and be told someone would call me back.Guess what? They never did. So, the nice people at the credit card company are now dealing with it.

I bought my ETX & other items from him at different times
and found him great to deal with...
Next time you ring ask for the owner...
I cant remember his name but he is a sound guy...

I've never had any trouble from them,
I know some shops are a bit slow with dealing with emails etc...
It's always best to speak to the owner or manager when you have an issue
like that.

Hope it works out ok for you.

I only buy from firms now who state that they will only debit the card when the product is ready for dispatch. Why should I pay interest on money paid with no product to play with :D .

Dont believe these next day/3day delivery promises, it never happens

Wow ... you must deal with some real amateurs. I don't buy astronomy gear online but I do buy almost everything else online and the companies I deal with all live up to their promises. In fact, I normally get my stuff BEFORE it is officially due, never after without getting an email about it.

Bart.

I usually get stuff in about 2 weeks from the US, sometimes 3, rarely 4. I've only once got equipment within 3 days and that was with fedex and that was the servocat as I wanted it in before the Christmas rush, I was totally amazed to see it shipped from San Diego on Wednesday and have it at my door on Friday morning,  totally shocked. On the other side of the coin I ordered secondary mirror heaters and other bits'n pieces in Mid December and they arent here yet, the shop told me they had trouble getting them but were shipped 4 days ago and will have them soon, I'm in no rush. I don't want to get stroppy with the shop as I'll be dealing with them again and I don't care so long as I get the parts. They are late but haven't lied to me, that's a line that if they cross I'll take on a whole different attitude.

Think you hit the nail on the head Dave. In astro alot of us expect to have to wait for some gear so a bit of honesty from some retailers about delivery and delays would make them a pleasure to deal with. Why have an e mail address if you do not actually respond to your customer base? Astronomy dealerships have to wise up that the market is not unlimited and that word gets around very, very quickly among amateurs on the various forums.
