Erect diagonal? was created by pj30something
Not sure i have this right but i read something on Cloudy Nights about turning a refractor into a reflector..........for daytime terrestrial observing. Someone mentioned that to do this you need an "Erect diagonal".
Would this be correct or have i completely lost the plot?

You can get a part that re-inverts the image so its not upside down, this is for daytime terrestial viewing, this way things arent upside down.

Thats basically what i read. I might invest in one because it would be nice to have the best of both worlds.
Can it also be used at night for celestial observing?
I assume so.
I ask because when viewing the moon(as an example)...............the man that lives in it is upside down and back to front.
Its confusing.

Well Paul,
You can give it a go on the moon but you might find internal reflections or dimming, as for stars, they look the same upside down.

And maybe the next time the woman in the house behind me takes a shower................she wil be the right way up.
LOL.
No seriously from where i live i have a great view of the Dublin/Wicklow mountains. It would be nice to view them every now and then the right way up..............and also the Sun (with solar flter) and planets

The star we call the sun doesn't look the same upside down.
