A newbies opinion:

Since i got a scope and started posting here and reading elsewhere.............the one name that keeps coming up time and time again is MEADE.

Just from what i read and how many times i see the name, i would say they are safe in their position. They seem to be the most reliable, respected name out there producing great middle of the road and top end priced equiptment.

I think the whole Lidl thing is a great marketing scheme............."reel them in with low cost good equiptment...and they are bound to upgrade at some time in the future to a brand they know and like.....................MEADE".

They do the same in America in Walmart. Give away ALMOST free samples of their products.........knowing that many will be return customers in the future.

Its a standard "cunning" business plan to increase your customer base in the future.

As for me..........................i'm still stuck on Celestron (the beginners gateway to the heavens).

My next scope is going to be a Vixen VMC200L Catadioptric OTA

Looks like Meade lost, but hey, it doesn't make no odds to me anyway.

I even forgot about that battle. Is the term 'RCX' sort of patented? Sorry for the dumb question.
