APM are , from what I understand, the name of the shop which acts as the retail outlet for TMB telescopes. TMB are considered to make some of the bnest telescopes in the world. Thyey may not be as well known as others but this may in part be due to their location outside Europe.
From what I understand, the Orion 80mm is considered a good scope as it has an apo lens. However, if I could take a pick between an orion 80mm apo and a APM/TMB 80mm apo for the same price, I personally would go for the TMB. However, I'm not an expert on refractors so hopefully someone else will chip in here.

Question for anyone who has imported a telescope.
If I buy a scope from germany and the price includes VAT,(@16%),
do I pay more VAT here? Also,what duty would I pay when it
enters the country here?

Try this fellow Sha. He has a webpage at www.shas-scopes.com where he has interesting hi-end stuff. To my knowledge, he operates from USA and has very good and dependable net working in Europe. I am sure he will be able to help you in all purchases. I know one fellow who imported a Meade LX200 16" scope into UK and without any VAT or other taxes! Best of luck
