We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time. . . .

Hi guys, Question: Is the SPC900 you speak of the same as the SPC900NC???

Yes SPC900 = SPC900NC
the later is the full philips product code
The stor is this:
One of the philips web cam range (a long ways back) used a CCD chip. This was the TuCam of which much has been written. Most of the rest of the range uses an MOS based chip, these are less sensitive. Philips sells the ccd version for people who want to web cam in the dark (I have no idea why that would be a selling point <end sarcasm> ). The ccd base chip is useful in low cost astro photography.
Since then the same chip and similar electronics have been in a number of different cases, currently it's in the SPC900NC variant

In the days of th ToUCam Pro, there were three different versions of this webcam if I recall correctly - the Pro version was the only version with the ccd chip.
With the newer model names and numbers, make sure you check to see if there are different versions - if there are different versions, get the one with the ccd chip.

''ToUcam'' is history bigtime.
Lots of people that bought this a few years ago
may be unaware that it was replaced with the ''SPC900NC''
(3 years ago now)
As Mike says just check the details on the box before you buy.
