Great to see you are joining in the fun Eamonn. It will be interesting to see the results we get.

From your two locations (and anyone else who gets set up in a similar fashion), it will be nice to see you correlate results to particular phemonenae, like meteors and such.

I'm working on a similar setup to Michael and am hoping to correlate the radio echoes with video captures from my all-sky bolide camera. I am using a Radio Shack Realistic Pro 2006 scanner plugged in to a standard sound board in the PC to grab the data. The analysis software is the same as Michael described - standard fare for this branch of astronomy! It's not up an running yet in a permanent set up as I still have to move and re-arrange the TV aerial mast on top of the house and bung up a dedicated antenna for it.

Michael,

All of this sounds very exciting. Similar to others, it is something which has also crossed my mind as well due to the lengthy downtime during winters and which can easily extend to four months.

Something I had thought of doing was background cosmic noise but it seems one needs a very large dish for such a project.

By the way, the British are experts in the field of radio astronomy and it is no coincidence given the problems with the British weather.

Anyway, please remember to post regular updates and certainly results from your work since I suspect you will be encouraging others to follow a similar route.

Anthony.

Unfortunately I wasn't feeling the best over the last few of weeks so I have yet to mount the aerial. However, I hope to install it and have it up and running this weekend, all going well.

Next thing then will be to work on how to stream the results onto my website.

Michael.
