I have just finished moving stuff around in my room to make space for my new CGE.
Have set it up indoors to check out the moving parts.
It certainly sounds noisier then the Altazimuth.
Would that be correct? It seems smooth.
I want to try out my ED80mm first on it. I just know I am going to have fun with this beast...:)

Declan.

I think my first initial concern is space to store it.
I don't have an actual place to put it!!

I know a couple of lads who'll mind it for ya ;-)

Well, I wish I had an update to tell you about with my new Cgem, but alas, I have not.
I have been extremely busy over the summer months that I have not had time to use this mount properly yet. I did try it out for just one night with the ed 80mm on top and was very impressed with its tracking as well as the optics on top.
But hopefully things will settle down a bit now and I will have time to start using all my new toys bought during the summer months!!!

Good luck with the new mount. Like most hobbies, you need to make the time for them. With the long nights ahead it should be easier.

Well 3 months on and I think I am finally going to get to use my new gear after all. I am away on hols for 2 weeks to a nice dark site down in Wexford and hope to have some reports about the equipment that I have acquired over the summer...which include among other things a Cgem, a skywatcher ed80mm refractor and the starshoot solitaire autoguider. These will all be put through there paces. Cant wait...well I have been..:)

Declan - you realise the hex of the weather will now be against you (and us)... ;)

The best of luck with the new gear and I'll certainly look forward to you posting of your exploits. Enjoy the break and I hope the weather is kind!
