Michael,
I saw the same reports and, in fact, look for an upcoming review from Astronomy Magazine.
It is labelled as revolutionary, it is attaches to your tripod and will easily allow for three hours of perfect tracking.
Let's see.
Anthony.

The Astrotrac can indeed take 15Kg.
I never put anything heavier than an etx125+canon 350d
on mine & it was perfect.
In fact, Richard the owner told me, off the record,
that it was tested up to 20kg and he has
seen it done in the field at a starparty in the US.
where a guy mounted a dob on it!

That Vixen tracker looks dead handy.
If you were only ever going to use it to mount a wide field camera/lens
setup on it then it looks the job!
Size of a compact camera - take it, your tripod & camera to your location no bother.
The Astrotrac is obviously in another league to this as it has so many more
options in the sense that it can be used as a mount for all manner
of heavy scope / camera combos.
solar/lunar also ...
I'd love to see it in the flesh.
600 is way to much for it though.
