Said individual was on a piece that claimed that the ISS was visible for the first time from Ireland. If thats to be explained away by something about the Shuttle then ok we'll leave it at that.
Yea, I'm still trying to get my head around 'jet breaks' in GRB's

Haven't we all better things to do?

How was the weather for the, ahem, AI event? Did they see anything at all? I was away in Galway and got a stunningly clear sky and enjoyed an hour scanning the Milky Way with binos. Not that I needed them - stunningly dark skies.
And I was bitten to death

Dave the weather was a bit mixed, some clear spells, some cloud, even a spot of rain at one point. At least everyone got to see something. There was a lot more things happening, demos, more talks, the food was done by a professional caterer, this made a big difference. This all took the pressure off during the cloudy bits. About 350 people showed up.
The problem with the site in roundwood (an tochar gaa club) is that it lies in the lee of a mountain and is often cloudy. On sat night, I was told that in the city it was mostly clear all night, whereas in roundwood there were only some clear spells. On the plus side the site is ideal with a hall, field, toilet facilites, electricity etc and amazingly dark skies.
Some things didnt work out because of the cloud. I had hoped to do a pluto photography demo and another guy was going to do a deep sky demo. That didnt work out but that was always on the cards anyway.
Glad you got a good night down in Galway. The transparency was amazing that night. I'd have loved to have been in Galway too!
