I asked said individual about this and heres what he said to me;
"There might have been something about the shuttle and the external fuel tank being visible for the first time, but I think I said "only once before in the 25 year shuttle history"
The shuttle that hasn't launched yet? :roll:

If you recall the shuttle was due to launch the following evening, there's no point telling people about it after the event.
I wonder if the shuttle had launched on time, how many people would have been out looking up who otherwise would have been inside watching telly?

.....
well about the news talk... that guy is more into squeezing money out of people - no matter how- rather than bringing astronomy to the public.

Much as I would like to let this develop into another flame war, please, for the sanity of the boards and those that do not wish for it to become one, keep responses neat and tidy...
...or a Mod will have to lock the thread.
At this stage, I've almost lost my tongue.

Remind me again how this justifies a news article where it was claimed the ISS was visibile for the first time ever from Ireland?

Look lets not let this get into 'one of those threads'. Haven't we all better things to do?
