Thanks Lads.
I have Win XP Pro and all my applications installed on one hard drive and my data on another. As a first step, I'd like to get all the data onto a newer faster disc with the older disc as a backup. Of course, it would be ideal to get the OS working off a fast disc also.
In terms of backing up my e-mail (addresses, e-mails in inbox, settings, etc), I just need to backup my .pst file - is that correct?
Cheers,

OK, since you're using XP all your data will be in a folder called OutLook or something like that in C:/Documents & Settings/<username>/Application Data/
Save that folder and then copy it back on your new install and all should be well.
