Hi Aubrey. Thanks for alerting us to this conjunction. The software I use predicts that Lovejoy will be at its closest to Almach around 4am on Feb. 5th, when they will be approx. 48' apart. If that's accurate visual observers should be able to resolve Almach and also see the comet in the fov of a Plossl at a magnification of 30x to 50x anytime from late the previous evening.

Comet in general would be but the competition section has not been updated in quite some time :whistle:
On the Magnitude, check this, its not at peak yet! :rock:

Yes, Dave. I don't do astrophotography. So, for your own sake, do get advice from the internet how to take images of bright double stars if you require. And I must point out that it was Simon (Carlight Express) who provided the heavens above link above -OK.

Well tonight's the night. 0.7° apart at half-six when the moon rises. Perfect skies here at the mo.
