Simon - sending you a PM with some other info.
Got a price for the 3nm ones from Teleskop Service €868 per filter, or €2604 for the three, if I got them from the US it would work out at €570 per filter + Shipping, it's scandalous !!!!! Extra €300 per filter for the privilege

Keith..
It would Keith, a lot better. You can see the glow from the moon bottom of the image (East), without the moon glow it would be darker with much more contrast. I didn't think it would have that much of an effect to be honest, it's worse than light pollution.

Unsure which ones exactly you were looking at. The €570 equates to about $645 at the moment - but I don't see 3nm filters at that price at the Astrodon site.

Kinch wrote: I am not sure that it is ALL moon glow. There is also a lot of nebulosity in that area of the picture. In my shot of the same subject ( www.flickr.com/photos/kinch-astro/121881...t-72157644977591354/ ) you will see that even with a lot of contrast in the final processing, that particular area of the shot is still showing up grey with nebulosity. The moon was not a factor here as far as I recall.
It's definitely moon glow Brendan. Although there is plenty of nebula and dust in that area, it should be a lot darker than the area to the West (top of image). I have read a bit since that even 3nm filters can not block strong moon glow completely.
