Nice pic!
You can clearly see the outlines of the 'pilalrs of creation' made famous by Hubble.

Get outta here Man, thats fabulous!!!! The definition is awesome. I notice what looks like long legs on the eagle. I've never noticed that before, maybe astrophotographers concentrate on the pillars and ignore this bit, which is a shame because they really add to your photo.
Well done Dave!

Astronomers do it with the lights off.

Great one Dave. Thats the first time the eagle has looked like an eagle to me. I was going to have a shot at that last night but it looks like I've now used up my quota of clear skies. That will be it until September. Tell me, could you see the nebula on your laptop screen, or did it build up during the imaging? I have dificulty seeing those nebula through the scope with my eyes, even with a filter on.
Keep it up, I will catch you up when I get some clear skies.
Bill.

I'm going to have a go at reprocessing this image. I actually shot a load of frames last night but I think the others are compromised by the mist rolling in. But I'll check and see if I can clean this up a bit more. I'd like to try and get some more detail around the pillars of creation if I can.
And its likely that I'll have plenty of time with the conditions for the next few nights not looking good...
Bill - the laptop screen showed bugger all - just the brightest stars. That's it! So it was a real surprise to see this detail when I processed the image. But I've had that many times now with the DSI. Its not until you process the image that you really see the detail. For example, the unprocessed image (ie what you see on the laptop) is below. You might find that your own images may have a lot more detail than you think... The processing part is probably the toughest element of imaging I think.
