Hi Eamonn,
The availability of detail on the limb with my photo MAY be due to libration effects whereas your atlas may have been prepared under different libration.
I took approximately 25 shots the other evening when imaging the full moon when it reached the southern meridian and all of them came out quite well. In fact, I had problems choosing one final shot to concentrate on.
Anyway, as you mention, the moon is too low right now for quality work.
Anthony.

thats a good one bill,
Watch out for the vignetting as you decrease the eyepiece focal length.
I like the colour, very natural given where the monn would be at that time.

Bill et al,
Here is an effort from very early this morning where I stayed up late so as to catch the 20-day old moon: www.perseus.gr/Astro-Lunar-Cycle-D20.htm ....
Another late evening later tonight and the 21-day old moon at 03:09 AM Wednesday morning (UT+3).

Nice one anthony. Keep them coming, it gives me something to aim for. Unfortunately, my moon-rise behind my garden shed ruin isn't as picturesque as your ruins
