John and Jed,

I contacted the fellow who prepared the webpage and associated fix and he mentioned that the input can be anywhere from 9 to 33 volts and, furthermore, the electronics not only ensure a constant input of 7.4V but also control various other functions (overheating etc).

Someone locally built the fix and was thoroughly impressed as to how easy and accurate this fix really is in providing an external power source.

The BP-511 batteries currently sell for 4.50 to 5.90 euro each on eBay-Germany (1600 mA). My only problem is the shipping which is 16 euro for insured shipping which makes the total price rather prohibitive. A fellow in Britain is selling the same batteries for 10 British pounds with shipping included.

Anthony.

The overheating function is built into the regulators,

I would use a simple 12volt supply to power this, maybe a small car battery or use a spare PC power supply (of which I have plenty of).
