Dave G - thanks for the offer. We'll see if we can arrange a KAS talk - I know many of the folks there would appreciate it!
The DSI is pretty simple. It's based around the webcam concept but uses a Sony Super HAD CCD ICX404AK chip. Its a colour chip.
There is no high-resolution mode and it doesn't bin, but the imaging software can stack and do drizzle on-the-fly. In fact, the image software pretty much makes Registax redundant but I find that Registax has a better arsenal of post stacking tools. I'm just not sure how to use them
The image you see was taken at a focal length of 5000mm (8"SCT F10 with 2.5x Powermate). The image scale is .35 arcsec/pixel and the FOV is 2.3 x 3.4 arcmin. That's the best I can do with this setup.
As far as Registax goes, I'm not sure how to fully utilise the quality settings as a tool for removing poor quality images prior to stacking. And then the wavelet processing tools to clean up...
Cheers
Dave
