DSLR sesativity without IR filter was created by Jed Glover
Hi All,

I think several members here will find the following link quite illuminating!

mikesastro.com/analysis/IRmod/

This shows the difference between a Canon 350d before and after IR blocking filter removal.

Later,

Jed.

That is some difference! Its a shame such a maneouvre on the Canon violates the warranty!

hmmm, my warranty is out now, I think! I might now seriously consider that mod. Tho I'd have to make sure I got the spacing right for normal photography as my 300D is also my main normal photographic camera.

That comparison has pretty much sold it to me. methinks some internet research is in order!!!

No it doesnt Al.

See here

If you use the correct spacers when you put it all back together, the autofocus will work fine. Add a decent full aperture IR filter and it seems you've got your daytime camera back as good as new.

Thats is an impressive improvement.
The 300d would improve accordingly also, I might one day remove the filter, but not today. :)
