Didn't realise that it was modified :(

But it doesn't look too hard to do it and I have most of the bits required lying around the house anyway :D

I was planning on starting with the Moon and Mars anyway. We're due a bonus in work in February so I might splash out on a better camera then depending on how well I get on with this mount and motors. No point in getting a better if the tracking is poor on the mount anyway.

Lads,
thanks for the kind words.
Any one notice the "ghost" image in the dark clouds to the upper end on the nebula

Steve,
The beauty with webcamming the planets is that the tracking is not critical, as registax is able to compensate for scope movement, so you should be well able to get planetary images outs of the scope+webcam combination you have there.

The ghost was pointed out to me by Dawn, I just had to put it in. just a week too late for Halloween.

Anyway, the yellow box is the field of view that the toucam would give of this object, I derived this from recent images of Mars, since we know its apparent diameter and the seperation of the stars on the image.
Of course this would be slightly wider for a scope with a shorter focal length, but it does show what ball park size you'd be talking about if you were to use a modified toucam.
This image is uncropped, so its the real FOV of this camera/scope combination.
