Hi \Steve and welcome to the wonderful world of webcamming at least you got detail in your first image mine looked like a solphadeine disolving in water any way try these settings for mars

1/33 exp
gain bout 30 to 50%
leave everything else as is
take about 1800 frames at 10fps

on regi
80% is fine for mars I use wavelets set at Gausian 3 to 1 and use the No. 1 wavelet only.

You mean something like this?

OK - that was my real first attempt :p

Michael S suggested 1/250 to get Mars. I was using 1/50 when I got that solpadeine photo. The gain in the decent one was about 20-30%. And I wanted to take a longer movie afterwards but for the clouds. I'll try again at the weekend weather permitting.

Thanks for the encouraging comments guys :)

There's no return for you now Steve.
Great first image, do experiment with the levels, its the only way of learning how to use them.

As Dave says you're screw'd now. Every clear night you'll be out. PS theee most important thing is to get the best quality AVI. you cant make something out of nothing. That includes spending time on collimation every night and focusing. If I'm out for 30mins I'd rather spend 27mins getting best collimation and focus and one good 3 min avi, then having 3 or 4 mediocre avis.

Keep up the good work
