Version 2 is a little larger scale;

It seems the image is of quite low resolution and detail compared with what should be capable using a ed80 and 300d.
What way are you connecting the camera to the scope? prime focus or afocally using an eyepiece?

Hi Mark,
Both images are deliberately cropped and resized too. The original is just waay to big. This was done at the prime focus of the ED80.

Thanks for the comments Mark, actually it was looking at the images on your website that convinced me to go down the DSLR route last year. Thanks:)

Dave,
Both are very nice images and I would prefer no. 1 also.
However, if I were to try and provide constructive feedback, I might say that I think the unsharp mask or similar has been applied a fraction too much. It might be worth trying to crop and resize the original image to be the same as no. 2 and then apply a slight unsharp mask.
If you apply the unsharp mask before you reduce the image scale and then reapply the unsharp mask again after reducing the image scale, if doesn't seem to work as well - at least I couldn't get it to work right anyway. Best to sort out your image size and scale first. Then apply an unsharp of approx 3-4 of say 100%.
