I bet you've found that its hard to remove the pollution and try keep the red of the nebula.

I cant remeber 100% what i did, but something like this.

Adjust color balance
highlights: -100, -100,-100
midtones:+100,+70,+70
shadows: -100,-50,-50
OK

Adjust color balance
highlights: -100, -35,0
midtones:+35,0,0
shadows: -30,-30.0
OK

I also used neatimage to remove noise

best seems to reduce red and green (highlights) so its kind of bluish, then reduse blue from midtones and increse red and green

That bright centering (more like edge dimming) is called vignetting,
the chip in the canon is too big for the skylux and its 1.25inch barrel.
