Finally got autoguiding cracked...

1-2 arcminutes is a fair amount of error, I wonder is there a small bit of crud on that section of the worm causing that, it sounds like almost too much error for PEC (I only have experiance of LX mounts in this regard).
I know cleaning the worm and main gears of the LX scopes can seriously improve tracking.
Can you open it up and have a look.

Dave - I'd be afraid to! I'll try and see if its reproducible first - I'm sure I've seen it more than once though.

If there is a problem, I'll throw it over to the AP group - Roland Christen (Mr. Astro-Physics) frequently lurks there and gives lots of advice and help. But he doesn't not suffer fools gladly - so I'd better have all my facts at the ready...

My first reaction to a problem like that is getting out the screwdriver set and to get stuck into it :lol: , of course thats easy for me as my scope is years past its warrenty.

AP don't use screwdrivers - hex keys dontcha know
