its looking like a faint group of stars, but I reckon its too charp to be so. Is it from your camera?

Seanie, I see that, it is in fact the remnants of some hot pixels which weren't completely extinguished by the darks. As the various frames are rotated while aligning, you get that kind of staggered effect.

Great image Dave.
Just wondering if you would perhaps tune the levels down slightly to reduce the "glow" around the galaxy? Would it remove too much detail?

Thanks Michael,

I suppose it depends on where you have the brighness levels set on your monitor. The 'halo' around M104 is one of its best features IMO. However if your monitor is set too bright it may appear a little much. I have two monitors with one set to average brighness contrast and the other up full. I try to get the best balance so it looks ok on both. But it is impossible to cover every eventuality.

Thanks for the comments all!!!!

Oh BTW there were no filters used at all in that image, I even forgot to use a UV/IR blocker!

Nice one Dave.

It will be interesting to see how you get on with galaxies without a LP filter.

Later,

Jed.
