Anthony - that's a remarkable image. Do you know if anyone else has achieved the same?

Hi Dave,

I am happy you like the image. I just wish the moon was a little higher than 20 degrees so that the seeing would have been better?!

As for the accomplishment, I suspect you mean both a solar and lunar transit ... I do not know to be totally honest but the solar transit is the tougher of the two since you are blinded by the strong sunlight and you have no visual cues as you do with a lunar transit when the ISS is not in shadow (my particular photo had the ISS in shadow and was not visible).

By the way, you've been very shy about telling us of your APOD...

Hehehe, nothing escapes you! I have been so busy with requests for my eclipse photos that things have yet to return to normal. Not that I am complaining of course.

Sorry for the digression but two months to go for the arrival of the AP1200GTO. No words can describe my anxiety and eagerness to get my hands on this quality mount!!! :D

Clear skies to you!!!!

Two months - that probably seems like forever :D I reckon I've at least another four years for AP160...

Will the AP1200 I'll expect nothing less less than an occultation of Pluto by the ISS

Cheers

Dave

Actually I have the ISS occulting Sirius (!) this Friday. I was thinking about setting up with VERY high power and simply centering on Sirius ... speak about a back-door method to nailing a high-power view of the ISS.

Of course, an issue is the exposure so as to avoid motion in the passing ISS. With the example of the lunar transit, I purposely used 1/500" and I do feel comfortable in that I managed to "freeze" the transitting ISS. Hopefully I can do something similar with Sirius.

Anthony.

PS. Why chase the ISS all over the sky hoping to get a few frames within the FOV when you can set up at a predetermined spot (ex. Sirius) and sit and wait for the ISS to come to you.

PPS-2. Dave and Dave ... thanks for the kind words.
