Thanks for the kind words guys,
The webcam settings were as follows,
the contrast and saturation were at midpoint,
The frames pre second were down to 5fps, the gain was then set as low as possible that would give a reasonable bright image, but not too bright.

Heres another image from an earlier AVI with the GRS more prominent, its over 1400 stacked frames this time around.

It looks abit better if you dont sit too near your screen
Its a tiny bit sharper maybe? if only it were higher in the sky !!

Dave - Beaut image, I don't think my scope will give that kind of resolution, regardless of seeing.

What size scope do you have ? you'd be amazed what registax can do

That's a much better image Dave! Much sharper but not overprocessed. I see you've corrected for thr colour also. I reckon that's about as good as can be done from this latitude.

I was afraid it might be overdone, its so hard to get it the way you'd want.
I was particularly surprised at how non star like the moon is, even its colour seems right.

Even though its clear again tonight, I wont be able to go out, I'd recommend anyone with a toucam+scope to give this planet a go, it's worth the effort.

BTW, the presently setting cresent moon looks fab, the earthshine is very obvious.! no signs of NLCs though
A did a quick sharpening of the image,

Would you consider it a step too far, is it over done?

On the second retry of your second image here? Yes. The two white sub-equatorial bands are now glowing a bit! The first image of your second attempt is better than your first image overall here I reckon Dave. It has less of a blue tinge on the edges of the disk, and is slightly more sharper - more realistic of Jupiter, yet knowing it was in only fair seeing conditions, can appreciate its not going to get much sharper!

You're dead right Seanie, I processed this using a different monitor and now that I see it on my "normal" monitor, they are glowing. thanks for the feedback, if I get a better image together I'll put it up, although I dont think I can beat the second image with the other AVIs I got that night.
