coruscations attending the whole length of the luminosity, giving to the phenomena the aspect of a wrathful messenger, and not that of a tranquil body pursuing a harmless course..comet of 1680

If you're going to use only one colour channel, many often grayscale the image (blackandwhite). Did you find that removing the blue and red really improved the image?? are you using a IR blocking filter? all the same a definite improvement, nice one
Are the moon images single images or did you use stacking there?

John - lovely lunar images there. Nice focus in both of them. Now, go try a mosaic
Jupiter is rather green - perhaps that too is made of cheese...
Cheers
Dave
Yep green it is, still it's better detail wise than my last one. The reason for this is the adjustment of the blue and red channels manually as low as they can go (there isn't one for green) to try to reduce glare and pick up more detail, this does tend to green the image. I'm sure a bit of photoshop colour balancing would improve the balance (if I had photoshop). Still I'm sure that I can probably improve the image with my MS Digital Image Suite.

Thanks to all for the comments, I think I've found a way to remove some of the green cheese using the histogram settings in Registax.
Is this any better?
Dave L - I'm still waiting on an IR blocking filter - John O'Neil is picking me up one in the States. I didn't remove the blue and red channels, just toned them down - it certainly increased the detail and gave a less red image (which was what I was previously getting).
The moon images are stacked using about 500 frames

I can imagine that reducing the red channel might help, if it was a perfect solution then nobody would be getting the IR blocking filter.
As for the blue, thats unexpected, do you think the scope suffers from chromatic abberation? are you seeing a blue line around the planet visually?
