although the DSI is a colour imager, it seems that without the IR filter red just gets everywhere. Also, red is not 'registerd' properly. If you look at the Ring, you'll see that the bright stars have red 'bleed' on them.
So, for each image, I have to spilt it into three colour planes, register each colour and then reduce the red frame. Then recombine them. Multiply this 30+ times and its a real pain.
The overall result is reddish images with red bleed on them And of course, some blurring too. Unfortunately, I think its the best I can do with a $300 imager
The ring was a little overexposed simply to bring out more detail in the core and some of the fainter stars. I think most folks here preferred my first version of M57 (in greyscale) because I got both faint background stars and the detail in the nebula. But it was the second less favoured image that I did the colour processing on.
I appreciate the feedback but I guess I just need to get a better imager to make another leap of quality...
Cheers
Dave
ps - why are you cowering?

All feedback greatly accepted! As long as its constructive, I don't mind it being negative at all in fact, that's the best kind - I can always do better
