Lovely image with granular detail there Dave, even if a bit out of focus. The prominence of that flare (is it?) is superb, really stands out against the background, but it does look a little overexposed - its a pure brilliant white. :oops:

I'm pretty sure it's the sun - it was the only thing visible in the PST that day and as far as I know at 656.3nm not at lot else is.

I think the reason it's looking out of focus is jpg compression. I've checked the tiif and it looks much sharper.

Working on a mosaic at the mo.

I'm completely smitten by this, maybe it spells the end to night time astronomy.....when is Saturn visible again?

Yes v noticable, a darker image but much more detail. You have to tune it perfect though.
