Wow.
Judging by those...
seeing is everything!
The first image is not too impressive knowing your set up..
(trust me guys... youd kill for it!!! :D )

but the weather has been tripe.

Conversly, the image from Febuary is totally amazing!

I think sometimes we (as amature astronomers)
don't appreciate how far we've come in the last 20 or 30 years.
I mean....
Images like the ones above were only dreamed about not too long ago!

Here's to the future!

Well Frank, Now that you're more used to the webcam, and with saturn on the rise, you'll be well poised to get snapping on that planet when it becomes more favourable. See you in the meeting tomorrow.

Hi

I note you use an IR/UV filter with your sct.

Is it necessary to use an IR/UV filter or are they only necessary if you have a refractor/ lenses in the light path.

Hi Dave,
I have found it absolutely necessary to use the IR blocking filter with the SCT when imaging the planets, otherwise they loose their contrast and look overexposed.
The SCT plate blocks UV but not IR.

Hi Dave,
well done on the image the seeing is carp at the moment as is the weather. Dave there is no point in imaging Saturn when it's low down. I know it's hard not to try but your just smacking your head off a brick wall :(
