The camera does have the RAW file option. The biggest problem will be the length of time for exposures. I think the max setting is something like 10 secs. I might invest in a camera next year but as I only got the scope a few months ago, I need to start saving again :(

Joanna,

With a camera which has a non-removable lens your options are limited. The only way of coupling this to the scope is known as the 'Afocal Method. What this primarily means is placing the lens of the camera up very close to the eyepiece of the telescope. Baader make a contraption called a 'microstage adaptor' which clamps around the focusser (or in the case of an SCT, the visual back, and then clamps your camera in place.

You are limited to taking snaps of the Moon and planets with this method. If you want to take deep sky shots you will need either a dedicated astronomical CCD camera or a Digital SLR (which have removable lens and unlimited exposure times) such as the Canon 350D or 400D

Hi Keith,

It's a Fuji Finepix S5000. Unfortunatley the lense is not removable but I'm hoping because the lense is threaded as well as the lense adapter that this might be a way around it

Pity - I have a spare canon adapter...

Keith..

Keith,

If you've still got that T adapter for the Canon 350D I'd be happy to purchase. PM me.
