Alright, I took 4 x 4min and 12 x 100sec exposures last night of, you guessed it, M45. Therefore, total exposure time - 36 minutes.
Combined the images in Registar and then processed in Photoshop. Constructive advice would be appreciated.
One thing I've noticed, processing images yourself is difficult as you are constantly making small adjustments. Difficult to see sometimes if you've gone too far with the processing. Seeing an image with a "clean" pair of eyes can help spot lots of errors.
Thanks,

You've captured the nebulosity well and the colour looks close to natural. I see pink halos around the brighter star though. That might be the meths though

Aww Michael, That is simply stunning. I cannot find fault at all. As good as any M45 I've seen.
Wonderful.

Have you seen The New CCD Astronomy by Ron Wodaski. I got this about a year and a half before I bought a CCD. I read it cover to cover and it explains curves and histo stretches for photoshop. I only have CCDs so I can only assume that SLRs will have similar propeties to adjust. It points you in the right direction but every image is different and needs personal touches. As always colour balance is more a personal choice. Spot on image given the conditions last night.

An old trick from my art college days...
Hold a mirror at a 45deg angle to the screen.
You can only get away with this once or twice but it can
sometimes show up things you'd never believe.

Stunning image, I'd agree with dave though, slightly pink/purple around the bright stars.
Cheers
