Just hold back on the levels in registax, its like you used too much of level 1, like Dave said try Gaussian, it gives for a slightly more softer image.

Alternatively, if you are using Photoshop CS, try using "Smart Sharpen" instead of "Unsharp mask". Keep the radius at around 1.5 to 2.5.
