I'd say that image is with the skynyx, not a webcam, Dave can you confirm.
what's there is barely visible so it really is open to interpretation, a clearer image would obviously decide, I don't ask for much. :wink: :lol:
For me its 55-45 in favour of something been there.

This is great guys and what I was hoping for. It's taken with the skynyx alright but about 1000 bmps at 5 mS exp. also using the Schuler IR filter (780nm) to cut down stray light and seeing effects. My impression is that there is something there especially toward the bottom of the disc. Michael I saw the dust spot alright but didnt want to remove anything to keep the image as raw as possible. It also of course could be just light scatter from the day side itself....

Dave,
Few ways you could try and confirm it:
1) Take a longer exposure
2) Take exposures with various filters, in particular UV and IR filters.
3) Take an image with the cresent just outside the edge of the FOV of the camera

Other thing to watch out for is an internal relection in the scope. As you are using a SCT, there is the potential for this with a bright target.
