LOL :D Actually just ordered on of these tonight and then cam acros this thread. Credit card sure took another hammering tonight. I had been veering towards the philips 900nc but couldn't find it anywhere for the pennies you guys where quoting. The prices I could find it online for were quite a bit higher, and then one needed the IR Block filter, the 1.25" adapter, 5x powermate. Still small change compared to the DMK 21AU04 but then when I took into account that I was purchasing a filter wheel anyway for visual use and the fact that I already have some good Baader colour planetary filters(Decent for imaging apparently, I checked)...well the differance was about 100 euro. I thought, feck it, get the best.

I am rationalising all this with the weak dollar, "Sure I better get this now while the exchange rate is so good. Asked for it to be sent USPS as I believe they interface with An Post. Fingers crossed I get away without paying import duty.

Can't wait to get it.

Smee again! :D

Had another think about this this morning and I think I may have been putting the cart before the horse. With the weather this winter I have gotten feck all visually observing done. I'd be mad as a beginner scope user nevermind imager to spend so much money so soon. Especially as Mars and Saturn are on the wane, Jupiter wont get above 15 degrees this year. I've missed the boat. I have decided to get a Philips Toucam 900nc instead. Learn the ropes on this cheaper equipment and make use of what little opportunity is available this year for imaging the planets. Purely for experience. Then in 2 years when Mars is back, Saturns rings are back, Jupiter is higher I can look at purchasing a 'real' planetary cam (not to put the Philips down). God knows what you will get for the same money in two years time.

Hey I might even try my hand at imaging the ISS with the Philips! :D
