Dave I did take dark frames three hours after the last image but can't remember if I actually applied them. I know I did do a hot pixel run. The luminance was sharpened but I dropped the opacity of the layer to bring out the deepr red colour. With the haze last night though it was always going to be a bit soft even with the sharpened luminousity layer.

Dave,
This is one with the LLRGB done. Lost some colour in the stars though but shows the sharpened detail

Somebody's busy eh!
Another great iameg Kieran. I prefer the second version - better contrast and a little sharper.

Kieran - i see what you mean about losing some star colours but the detail in the bubble is much much better in the second image. Given that that is the subject, I prefer it. A stonking image!

Thanks Dave, I think your observations on the first pass were bang on and improved the final result.
Take offence from constructive input? Thats what the this place is about. Think I may owe you another drink at the Whirlpool
I would say that once you actually know where your filters are in the filter wheel  , then knowing the RGB weights for your filter/ccd/scope set up make colour balance a lot easier than messing about in photoshop.
Don't take offence -
