Yet another Veil... was created by michaeloconnell
Quickly becoming the "test card" for us astrophotographers, here's my effort at imaging the Veil from last night under a near full moon.
The Veil Nebula is the remnant of a supernova explosion dating back several thousand years and is approx. 1,400 light years away in the constellation Cygnus.
The section of the Veil you see in this image is NGC 6992 and is the brighter eastern half of the nebula. NGC 6960 is the portion of the nebula that appears close to the star 52 Cygnus on the other side of the arc.
Image taken with SBIG ST8XME camera, Gemini G41 Obs+ mount, TEC140 refractor; 20 x 4 min exposures.
Clear Skies,

A fab shot Michael, This is one of those few nebula that look as good if not better in black and white. I cant wait to see this one again.

Great shot Michael, Lots of detail. The only question now is which filters 2" or 1 1/4", Superb image, keep up the good work.

Are you saying you're an astrophotographer?
Nice image Michael - perhaps you could have a go at a mosaic? What's the FOV of the image? How would I do with a 20 arcmin square?
You've got good focus, its well processed and nice and smooth. I noticed Gary's Elephant's trunk (no offence Gary) looked a little pixellated on my monitor. But this image really is nice and smooth. I think a mosaic would be really cool...

Geeze Lou-eeze! That's a cracker of a shot, even in black and white. Detail is amazing. Just to crush your spirit a bit, I'd love to see this in colour...

Would love to try this in narrowband.
