I think it makes a huge difference mate. You can now see some of the filamentary detail in the parts of the neb which in the other image were just amorphous grey blobs.
Time for a full veil mosaic now?

Yes, I think it makes a big difference too. At least from now on, I know what brightness to set the background so that it looks more "natural", and not too black. I fiddled with the contrast a fair this time which helped alot also.
