NGC 7635. The Bubble Nebula was created by carlobeirnes
Hi All,

Here is an image of NGC 7635. The Bubble Nebula. I was imaging the bubble a few nights ago but I was not happy with the results I was getting. So I got myself a 2" H Alpha filter. I was out last night It was one of those nights where everything went perfectly guiding was behaving itself there was no Dew ,no clouds, no moon. the difference the H Alpha filter made is incredible. So I let the Scope go loose and I got 200 min of data 3 hours 20 min.

Hope you like the results

Image taken 9th & 10th of October ,New Haven Observatory Balbriggan.Through a Celestron 80ED piggybacked on a CGE14" with ATIK 16HR CCD 2" H Alpha filter, guided through C14 with 6.3 focal reducer guiding with phd Luminance was 40x5Min, Darks was 10 x 5 min No Flats with 1x1 Binning.Processed in ImagesPlus V2.8 .

Fantastic image yet again Carl!

Just out of interest do you find that exposures need to be way longer with the halpha filter? Which bandwidth filter is it?

Thanks,

Trevor

Carl - nice image.

Have you taken this in other filters? If so, I'd be curious to know how much longer you need to image through Ha to get the same SNR as with say no filter, LRGB set and any others.

I might be wrong but I understood you need more exposure time using Ha than other filters...

Now, this all said, its a really nice image. If you have LRGB data, I wonder what that would look like combined with the Ha...

Hey there Carl your getting good at this deep sky stuff  thats a terrific image, that bubble always gives a great three dimentional aspect to an otherwise two dimentional sky are you planning on going back for some RGB ? drop me a pm and let us know where you got the filter and how much you paid for it i've been thinking about getting one for a while now

oh wise man why is the universe so perfect?ah because symmetry loves herself.
