Seanie,

Thanks for bailing me out each time regarding the links problems.

Dave G,

I also have been surprised by the level of detail. I think alot of the improvements over a period of 18 months on the big instrument are now paying off. There have been a wide range of improvements that I believe are yielding these results, which includes improvements in optical performance, tracking and contrast issues to name a few.

Dave L,

This has been a very important exercise in imaging the more difficult targets trying to yield above average detail. The reason I am imaging at present is that I am trying to extract more information from faint targets. This will enable me to monitor faint exoplanets transits that are neglected. I learnt alot of the trials and tribulations in monitoring an exoplanet transit for the first time back in May. I plan to do more monitoring of exoplanet transits this year which requires alot of attention to detailed preparation before imaging over a 2-3 hour period.

Very nice image. There is a lot of detail on an otherwise a very dim object.

Great shot BTW...... Welcome to the Webtreatz.com family Eamonn

An interesting strategy Eamonn, making sure you can image what is definitely there and getting your techniques right before you go searching for what might be there.

Dogstar,

Besides the the blueish-green colours of the forbidden lines of Oxygen and Nitrogen, there are reddish colours of ionized Hydrogen and Nitrogen. Very pleased with the results

Carl,

Thanks Carl, I agree the detail has been a pleasant surprise on a dim object. Its worth the challenge to go for targets that are difficult to yield detail. Its a good test of instrument, methods, technique and the astronomer that has to carry it out. BTW, I can see I am in good company been on Webtreatz.

Dave L,

Glad you like the strategy. Its challenging to aim high, but pays dividends when the results come through.
