That’s a great first effort Euronymous and well done, I like that image! As a further exercise in astrophotography try to photograph the Moon over its various phases by the same means and take note of the settings on your camera. In this way you can then build up your practical knowledge over time and refine it, and you also have a digital record of your very own work to impress your buddies! Its also a good foundation to progress to more advanced imaging like prime focus astrophotography in the future if you are thinking about going down that route someday!
Clear skies

Nice job Stephen, you want more right? Try and follow it over the next few nights away from full moon, especially after 3 days, the detail you will get on the terminator will be excellent

Excellent Stephen! What kind of digital camera did you use?
If we ever see the moon again in the South-East, I might have a crack at trying that out.

I think my 1st attempt (same method as above) was beginners luck. I tried to replicate it tonight and even push the boat out a bit more but no joy.
Every time i had the moon in sight a pesky cloud came over. When i put the camera back in the bag...clouds cleared.
Mind you there were no clouds when i took my 1st pics.
That could have been the problem tonight.
I'll try again later.
