Beaut shot Keith. Is that the IS version of the lens?
Seanie, what you and I own lens wise are bottle ends compared to this baby. The L series are professional grade lenses and are priced to match, especially an F2.8. Something like 23 elements in 18 groups and the Image Stabilized (IS) version costs around $1700 last time I checked. Drool....
Wow, I'll echo the other sentiments akin to that's some lens Keith!, thanks for clarifying that John. I'll keep saving up so...

Any filters involved?
None Paul, just as is.
Yes Seanie, each sjot was just piggybacked on top of my C8 SCT, I polar aligned it as well as I could, no autoguiding of any sort :!:Tell me, was this shot (each of the 1 minute shots) tracked?
I was also practising on Orion but working off a standard tripod unguided
Try a widefield lens Joanna, you can get away with up to 30 seconds
Is that the IS version of the lens?
No John, it is the 'standard' :!: L lens, the IS lens is much more expensive at about 1600 euros plus, anyway, the IS is not needed for astrophotography.
I'll keep saving up so...
Me too, glad I did now
