The Old Moon in the Arms of the New was created by voyager
I made it my business to get out and shoot the small crescent Moon on Tuesday evening. As has become my habit I headed for the NUI Maynooth campus to try get some shots of the moon over and next to things. While I was at it I also got some other night time shots and did some experimentation with HDR photography at night using positively astronomy-like exposure times of up to 5 minutes in total for some of the shots!
Anyhow, the shot that actually captures the Moon the best is this one:
And the one I think is the most "arty" is this one:
You can see the lot here (like I said, not all Astronomy): www.bartbusschots.ie/gallery/index.php?/category/165

I prefer the second also.
Its a better composition and the play between dark and light is
very interesting.

Second pic is very good. I like the reflection in the water.

Second one is good. Nice use of tree in foreground and reflection in water.

What would the bright object to the right of the moon be?
Regulus?
Saturn? (Saturn is more yellow though)
Venus? (Isnt Venus the morning star right now though?)
Sirius?
Answers on a postcard please....
